NADA detox auriculotherapie

In 1973 was het de Chinese dokter Wen die als eerste verslag deed van de succesvolle toepassing van Acupunctuur bij verslaving (afhankelijkheid bij alcohol, drugs en medicijnen). Dokter Wen, een neurochirurg in Hong Kong, bemerkte dat bij patiënten die een operatie hadden ondergaan en die post- operatieve acupunctuur ontvingen er minder sprake was van onthoudingsverschijnselen van de narcose dan bij diegene die geen acupunctuur ontvingen. Naar aanleiding van deze ontdekking werd het protocol toegepast bij alcohol- en drugsverslaafden. Zij kregen electro- acupunctuur toegediend op specifieke punten in het oor. Na aanprikken van de oorpunten toonde men een significante vermindering in de behoefte aan alcohol/drugs/medicijnen.

Het uiteindelijk resultaat is het NADA protocol, een vaste volgorde van acupunctuurpunten met een meditatie/ontspanningsmoment afgesloten met een speciale Detoxthee en bij voorkeur ingebed in een reguliere behandeling bij alcohol-, drugs-, rook-, eet-, en medicijnverslaving. Het protocol werd oorspronkelijk gelanceerd in de USA in het Lincoln Hospital, South Bronx, New York.Halverwege de jaren 80 werd ‘The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, kortweg, NADA ,opgericht.

The NADA protocol consists of the insertion of five, small, fine, sterile stainless steel needles under the surface of the skin on specific sites in the outer ear. No electrical stimulation is used. The recipients sit quietly in for up to 45 minutes, relaxing. These five points are standard points for the treatment of substance misuse and anxiety management. Acupuncture treatment for substance misuse has shown to be clinically effective, cost efficient, drug free and compatible across cultures.
